Rickie Fowler is known for using some of the most katana-esqe bladed irons.  Case and point: the Limited Cobra RF Proto Rev33 irons.

Before adding the Rev33 irons, Rickie played different iterations of Cobra blades, including the KING Forged MBs and AMP PROs.

But Rickie was just spotted playing something very un-Rickie at the Fortinet Championship (Napa, CA):  the forged King TOURs, Cobra’s new player’s distance iron.

Unlike Rickie’s blades of past, the King TOURs have a thicker topline, wider sole, and a cavity pocket.  Offset, however, appears to be minimal, despite not being a TOUR-focused iron.

Setting that aside, Rickie had some great things to say about the next-generation irons that could greatly benefit amateurs golfers looking for equipment that can help hide and reduce their mishits.

It remains unclear whether the King TOURs will incorporate the next-generation of MIM (Metal Injection Molding) technology, but the fact that a TOUR player has put them in play certainly helps validate the performance of one of Cobra’s newest offerings.

Ever since golf became a competitive outlet, nothing brings Eric more joy than a well struck 4 iron. And despite living in NYC, Eric makes it a priority to work on his game and fitness during the week, along with a round or two over the weekend. Fortunately, he’s got a very understanding fiancé who (for the time being) accepts him and his obsession. Follow Eric on IG @hozel_rocket.
