Find Fun and a Vaccine at Sunnyside's Cinco de Mayo Festival

Some people are still wearing masks and are still concerned about COVID-19 in the Yakima Valley. Even though there are no masking or distancing mandates in place some people are still avoiding big crowds. Others however are ignoring masks and getting back to attending large events and going to large department stores. If that's you and you plan to attend the Friday Cinco de Mayo Festival in Sunnyside but you still want a COVID-19 vaccine you'll be able to get that shot at the event.

Yakima Health District Officials say "the free COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be held at the Festival in Sunnyside on Friday, May 6th. The COVID-19 vaccine will be available to anyone 5 years and older and the booster dose available to anyone 12 years and older. Additionally, a second booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will be available for eligible groups. Health officials say while supplies last, those who get vaccinated will receive a $50 gift card.

During the pandemic Yakima County saw 73, 699 cases with 16 new cases reported over the last week. No hospitalizations and no new deaths have been reported in the county. All total 715 people have died of COVID-19 in Yakima County. Yakima Health District officials say the COVID-19 vaccine continues to be available throughout Yakima County.
